Give as you earn

“NHS Supply Chain’s Maidstone distribution centre is supporting the air ambulance due to overwhelming support from staff. The crew used to visit our site in the past as we had our own helipad. The site has supported the charity for many years through payroll giving and we now have ramped up our fundraising activities further and partnered with the air ambulance as our official site charity”
- Ann-Marie Dadd, Charity Lead, NHS Supply Chain Maidstone

Everyone benefits from payroll giving: Payroll Giving or Give As You Earn is something your whole businesses can get involved with. It’s an easy and tax-efficient way for you and your employees to give to The Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, enabling you to give to charity straight from your gross salary (before tax is deducted). If you give this way, you will receive immediate tax relief of up to £5 for every £10 donated.

For example:

  • If you are a standard rate taxpayer (20%), the immediate tax relief means that a donation of £10 will cost you just £8
  • If you are a higher rate taxpayer (40%), a donation of £10 will cost you just £6
  • If you are a highest rate taxpayer (50%), a £10 donation will cost you £5

There are lots other benefits too:
Benefits for employees:

  • Most tax-efficient way of giving
  • Feel good factor
  • Pride in the knowledge you are helping a life-saving service

Benefits for employers:

  • A pro-active scheme for community-minded employers
  • Helps promote good employer/employee relations
  • Minimal extra work for your payroll team
  • Fosters good public relations
  • Operating costs are tax-deductible
  • Your scheme could be eligible for an award – the Payroll Giving Quality Mark

Your regular donations enable us to plan ahead and develop our service with confidence so we can keep flying and be there for anyone who needs us.

Ask your HR department about your company’s payroll giving scheme – you just complete a standard form about your donation and your HR team will do the rest. It’s also worth asking your employer if they match their staff donations to charity.
