We have over 160 people who kindly donate the gift of time to volunteer for the charity and help us out, in a variety of ways.

For some this is an opportunity for them to 'give something back', for others it is a chance to meet new people or even gain some work experience. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, ranging from 16- 80+. Whatever your age, we will always welcome your help.

There are several ways in which you can donate the gift of time to our emergency service charity. All new volunteers receive training in each of our volunteering opportunities. Below are some examples of the roles that you could undertake to help us.

For more information please select the opportunities that interest you:

Volunteering at Events

We attend many events over most weekends, particularly during the summer season. We like to have at least two volunteers per event, so that when you give up your time to attend an event, you are also able to walk around and enjoy the event for yourself. Representing the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance at events will entail collecting the stock from our base, which will be ready and waiting for your particular event. You would then need to arrive approximately an hour before the event opens to set up your stall, (training provided) and then, enjoy the event as a representative of the Air Ambulance. We would then ask that you to kindly drop off your stock and the monies you made to us within a couple of days of the event. For more information please contact Lauren Elphick on 01622 833804 or email: laurene@kssairambulance.org.uk.

Collection Box Stewards

With over 3,000 collection boxes filling up across our county in shops, pubs and clubs on a regular basis, we can't possibly empty them all ourselves. This is where you come in. If you become a Volunteer for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, you would simply be registered to a/some collection boxes in your area. When we receive a call from the owner or manager of the premises, we will then ring you, to ask you to empty it on our behalf. For more information please contact Lauren Elphick on 01622 833804 or email: meganh@kssairambulance.org.uk

Public Speakers

The helicopter, the medical practices and the charity's background all provide a fascinating insight for groups, clubs and organisations. We attend over 400 talks each year in the county. As you can imagine, our staff and crew cannot attend every single talk and this is where our valued public speakers come in. The talks that we are requested to attend can vary from 5 minutes to an hour long; we train our volunteers to be equipped with the right information and to be adaptable for each and every situation. It is also an exciting learning experience and you would learn all the relevant information about the helicopter, medical practices, community and charity background to equip you to deal with any questions from your audience. We will also teach skills and tips to engage with the people to who you are talking. If this challenge sounds like your cup of tea and you could represent the Air Ambulance, then please contact Lauren Elphick on 01622 833804 or email: laurene@kssairambulance.org.uk (Projector slide show available with training provided, subject to availability)

Air Ambulance Lottery Assistants

The Air Ambulance Lottery brings in vital income and a fair amount of administration work; we like to stay in touch with our members and we write to all new and lapsed lottery members on a regular basis. However, this involves a large amount of envelope packing; it's a simple job but if you can't get out and about to events, but would still like to volunteer for the life-saving helicopter then please consider this option. For more information please contact Lottery & Merchandise Team Leader, Katie Underdown, on 01622 833808 or by emailing: katiee@kssairambulance.org.uk.

Cheque Presentation Speakers

We like to thank each and every individual, group, business or organisation that raises money for our life saving charity. As well as having cheque presentations at the Air Ambulance base in Marden, many of our supporters like to have a representative attend their locations for a personal thank you. This often involves a photo opportunity and a little thank you speech to the people that raise money for us. The thank you speeches usually last around 5 minutes maximum and more often that not, are a time for community get togethers and parties. So if you think you could do us proud and thank our fundraisers in your local area then please contact Lauren Elphick on 01622 833804, email: laurene@kssairambulance.org.uk.

Office Assistant

Our charity headquarters is a very busy and lively office and we are always on the look out for people who can donate the gift of time, by coming into the office and helping out with general administration; such as packing envelopes, stock boxes or special project work during our busiest times. If you could give a day here and there to help us out behind the charity scenes, then please contact Lauren Elphick on 01622 833804 or email: laurene@kssairambulance.org.uk.
