Shoppers in Hailsham raised almost £2,000 for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance in a raffle to win a car, which will be drawn next week (31st March).
Staff and volunteers for the life-saving charity sold tickets for the Win a Mini Draw at Waitrose last week (13th and 14th March).
A grand total of £1,968.20 was raised in ticket sales and donations for the charity, which relies almost entirely on public support to keep it flying.
A mother whose son was airlifted after he was hit by a go-kart at a soap box derby was among the supporters at the Vicarage Field store. He has since made a good recovery.
James Cook, Head of Lotteries & Gaming, said: “We are extremely grateful to Hailsham Waitrose and the landowners for giving us the opportunity to raise awareness of the charity, and to the public for their fantastic support.
“Each time our crews are called to an incident, the average cost is £2,500 so the fantastic sum raised is enough to fund a potentially life-saving mission.”
Tickets for the Win a Mini Draw cost £5 each and can be purchased online at www.raffle.me.uk with the draw taking place on Friday, March 31st, making it the perfect prize for the summer months.
The £19,000 convertible Mini Cooper, a brand new model, boasts tyre pressure monitoring, a Thatcham 1 alarm system, ISOFIX child seat system, on-board computer, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth hands free function, USB audio, reversing camera and parking distance sensors.
