In memory of Danny Yeowell

“On 4th October 2013, our world was turned upside down when my brother Danny was involved in a tragic accident at work. He was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital by the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, after receiving treatment for his injuries. Their crew did everything they could to give Danny the best chance of survival. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to spend the next four days in hospital with him which I will cherish forever.” – Ella Yeowell

Ella Yeowell and her family continued their outstanding support of our charity this year by holding a fundraising event in August, to celebrate Danny’s birthday.

An incredible £2,500 was raised at this year’s event in a variety of ways, including a raffle, a lucky dip and a cake sale. Ella’s little brother, Jack Yeowell, also braved a head shave to boost fundraising!

Fundraising efforts in memory of Danny have been truly inspiring. In July 2016, Ella and her cousin, Alice, successfully completed the Vitality British London 10K, having never participated in a running event before. To continue the running theme, Ella’s uncle also took on the Brighton Marathon to raise funds for us! Each Christmas, several members of the family make a donation in place of sending Christmas cards. Through each of these different fundraising ideas, Ella’s family are not only raising vital funds for our charity, but also raising awareness.

To date, Ella and her family, with support from friends and the wider community, have raised in excess of £11,000. This is an amazing amount of money and is enough to fund four missions – a truly wonderful tribute to Danny.
